The outdoortrophy 2015

Top athletes turn outdoortrophy into exceptional event

Lingenau (18 August 2015) – Rain, clouds, fog: Days before the race, the organizers of the extreme sports relay competition outdoortrophy followed the weather trends very closely. The start time was rescheduled twice with the goal of ensuring a fair and safe race as well as to provide a worthy stage for the participants to show their exceptional achievements.

When the outdoortrophy started at 10am in the village center of Egg and the mountain runners began their race, it was one athlete who attracted all the attention: Petro Mamu, currently the world’s best mountain runner, showed an impressive performance and ran a lonely race. The world champion did not let the thick fog on Niedere Mountain stop him and finished in 1:01:26 hours – despite the fog only one and a half minutes slower than two years ago, when Mamu crushed the course record in a spectacular race. The Eritrean finished more than six minutes ahead of the Czech top runner Ondrej Fejfar (Team OpavaNet) and eight minutes ahead of the mountain running marathon world champion Markus Hohenwarter from Austria (Team Flugschule Blue Sky).

Fog makes paragliding impossible
The paraglider pilots were not able to start into the air because of the thick fog on the mountain. Instead of flying, they needed to complete a short run with their equipment before the kayakers started their race with a frightening 6 meter cliff start. The Czech paddler Kamil Mruzek from Team OpavaNet made up more than a minute against the leading white-water vice world champion Manuel Filzwieser (Austria). In his eleventh outdoortrophy start, Mruzek was the fastest kayaker for the sixth time already!

Impressive victory by the favorites
The Italian mountain biking champion Juri Ragnoli from team „Landrover Hörburger – Martini Sportswear“ started the last leg approximately five minutes ahead of the Czech cyclist Milan Kanera. An advantage that he managed to extend with a great finish: The team “Landrover Hörburger – Martini Sportswear” with Petro Mamu, Lorenz Peer, Manuel Filzwieser and Juri Ragnoli triumphed in a great time of 3:45:48, six and a half minutes ahead the Czech team OpavaNet and twelve minutes ahead of the teams “Flugschule Blue Sky” and “Technika Brno Extreme Abuelo”.

Spectacular outdoortrophy solo
The Austrian defending champion Johannes Nister started as the favorite into the outdoortrophy solo – the incredibly tough category for extreme sports all-rounders. Nister started strong, but lost a lot of time in the thick fog on Niedere Mountain. The Czech X-Alps pilot Michal Krysta won the solo category in 5:26:04 – he was even faster than some teams. The team “Qloom” was the fastest lady team with 5:29:52, “KFZ-GEIGER” won the amateur category with strong 4:17:13.

Outdoor party
The icing on the cake of the extreme sport event was the party: The band “Meisterrocker” transformed the HIGH 5 area at the Bregenzerach River into a unique party scene.
